Art in the Office
Statement from the Curator
Curator: Christopher Albert
My Paintings are born from any details that may catch my attention. A glimpse of some visual instant, a turn of phrase, or some small idea, all serve as potential sources of my work. As a painting progresses, the original thought of the piece is woven together with other thoughts or tangents that appear in the compounded moments of pushing color around the surface. The finished artwork arrives as the result of an intuitive search, linking concepts, and material. The final result is not predetermined by my own intentions, but it stands as a record of the physical process of making married with its original purpose. The ultimate interpretation of any of my pieces is made by the viewer; projecting his own sense of content onto the painting, and thus finishing the piece.
